What is transmutation?

A Journey of Discovery and Energy

When I was searching for my true soul’s calling, I found myself at a crossroads, turning to those who seemed to peer beyond the veil of the everyday. I sought readings from various intuitive souls, each offering a glimpse into who I might be. Two of them, with unwavering certainty, told me I was a “transmuter.” I nodded, smiled, and quietly wondered, what on earth did that mean? I’d spent years trying on labels that felt close: healer, communicator, maybe even a past life as a high priestess, spinning magic through intention and words. One reading took a particularly wild turn when an intuitive claimed I was “hunting entities in the astral.” It sounded like something out of a fantasy novel, yet a quiet part of me felt a spark of recognition.

Back then, I was working as an EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) practitioner, helping clients release emotional blocks by tapping on meridian points. During those sessions, something curious started happening. As the energy shifted, sometimes heavy, sometimes electric, I’d feel it moving through me. I’d yawn uncontrollably or let out a loud burp, as if my body was a conduit, processing and releasing whatever was ready to go. Clients would leave feeling lighter, and I’d sit there, marveling at the strange alchemy of it all. It wasn’t until those readings that I began connecting the dots: maybe this was what being a “transmuter” was all about.

As I began working as a medical intuitive, the pieces started falling into place—albeit in a rather messy way. When I’d tune into clients with particularly intense energies, something startling would happen: I’d start burping, moving, shaking and vomiting. Not every time, mind you, but often enough that it became a pattern. I’d be sitting there, hands hovering over their energy field, feeling the weight of their pain or attachment, and when the client would answer “YES” to the question “would you like to release that….”my body would rebel. My clients would look on in shock and bewilderment and one even asked if I was okay, mid-session, as I grabbed a nearby trash bin. It wasn’t exactly the serene, mystical image I’d had in mind for this work. Over time, though, the vomiting became less frequent. I learned to breathe slowly and focus on my heart space, and my body adapted or perhaps I just got better at letting it flow through.

Unpacking Transmutation: The Alchemy of Energy

So, what is transmutation? At its heart, it’s the art of transforming energy—taking something raw, heavy, or discordant and turning it into something lighter, clearer, or more balanced. It’s spiritual alchemy, a process that doesn’t always come with a neat bow. For those of us wired as transmuters, it means we’re built to absorb, process, and shift energy, sometimes for others, sometimes for the spaces we inhabit.

It’s rarely pretty. I think of John Coffey in “The Green Mile”, that towering figure with a healer’s touch. In one unforgettable scene, he releases the pain he’s taken on, and it pours out as a swarm of dark, buzzing energy, like he’s vomiting up the sickness he’s absorbed. That moment hit me hard because it echoed my own experience: the visceral, physical release of something I’d pulled in. For me, it’s been burping, vomiting, yelling, yawning, arms shaking, head moving, or even a sudden wave of trembling as the energy finds its way out. I am happy to be doing this work on Zoom so I can mute myself or turn my camera off!

The Transmuter’s Role: A Bridge Between Worlds

Being a transmuter isn’t about waving a magic wand to fix everything, it’s about being a bridge or a channel between the dense and the divine. Some say transmuters naturally clear stagnant or heavy energy, whether from people, places, or even unseen realms. That wild notion of “hunting entities in the astral” started to feel less like a sci-fi plot and more like an intuitive nudge toward balance: not chasing ghosts, but quietly dissolving what doesn’t belong.

Beyond those intense client sessions, I’ve noticed subtler signs. I’ll step into a room thick with tension and feel it press against me, only to sense it lighten as I breathe and stay present. Friends have told me they feel inexplicably calm around me, even when I’m not trying to “do” anything. It’s as if the energy reshapes itself in my orbit, often without me fully intending it.

Signs You Might Be a Transmuter

Curious if this resonates for you? Here are a few clues I’ve pieced together from my own path and others’ stories:

  • Physical Releases: Yawning, burping, vomiting (matter or energy) or shaking when energy shifts—your body might be a barometer for the unseen.
  • Instant Vibes: You sense a person or place’s energy before words are even spoken.
  • Drawn to Heal: You’re pulled toward those in need, and feel a subtle lift once the weight eases.
  • Nature’s Cleanse: Time outdoors or near water resets you, like you’re shedding what you’ve carried.

Embracing the Gift

Figuring out I might be a transmuter didn’t come with a guidebook and I’m still learning as I go. I have been very fortunate to be mentored by incredibly gifted people who move energy the same way. It’s not always easy; there are days it feels like I’m lugging around someone else’s baggage. I have learned to be more of a conduit for the energy so I do not take it on. Grounding and post session energy cleansing using sound bowls and salt baths are essential to staying “clean”. But, there’s a quiet awe in it too: the idea that we can transform pain into peace, or chaos into calm, just by being who we are. It’s not about standing out; it’s about stepping into a flow greater than ourselves.

If you’ve ever found yourself gagging in a heavy moment, or felt both drained and lighter after being with someone, maybe you’re a transmuter too. It’s not a badge to wear, it’s a calling to lean into. Like John Coffey, we might not grasp the full weight of what we carry, but the energy knows its course, and it moves through us anyway.

If you wonder if you have the gift of transmutation or wonder if you need to shift lower energies from your body then I would love to help.

Wishing you good health !
